As one of only few Danish brands, we produce everything by ourselves, and we refuse to outsource any part of the production of our clothing. We buy only the best yarns and from there on everything is done by us – right here in Denmark. Some may call us old school, but we insist that the best clothing comes from being in control and being able to adjust and develop every little aspect of the production line. We won’t ever be able to do it as fast as the modern industry, but our size and way of doing things gives us the upper hand when it comes to quality, creativity and designs. The best thing about it: We sell our garments directly from our factory, which means you’ll get superior quality at a lower price than anywhere else. We bet you.
As much as fashion inspires us, as much do we try to go beyond when we design. Fashion implicates that we should always thrive for new possessions and that clothes become outdated. We simply don’t believe in that. Our clothes are made to be worn out by you, not tossed away on behalf of some new. We love making simple styles that make the quality and structure of the garment stand out and we respect our heritage in Danish design, but we won’t praise conformity. This means, that you’ll find both timeless classics, street wear designs and experimenting forms. We encourage you to mix it all up.
We use only Oeko-Tex® certified European yarns and add no chemicals in our own processing. This means you don’t have to worry about washing our garments before you put them on, they won’t harm you nor the environment. Wool is both renewable and biodegradable, combined with our highly sustainable in-house production, the impact we leave on the environment is brought down to a minimum. We have high expectations from ourselves. The only thing we expect from you is to make sure our garments are worn out, repaired and then worn out again. Nature will take care of the rest.
A small family based clothing brand originally founded by Ole Strange. Our family’s heritage in the knitting industry dates back to the 19th century where the first knitting machines found their way to Denmark. Ole Strange left Copenhagen at age 20, where he started an apprenticeship at a knitting factory in Jutland. A few years later he moved abroad to study at The Swedish School of Textiles where he got his degree in textile engineering. Since 1989 Ole has worked with designer and life companion Dorthe Nielsen at their factory in Ry, Jutland. Together, they have produced apparel fabrics and clothes for a wide variety of international brands alongside with their own creations. Since 2015, the original company Strange Collection has merged into the brand STRANGE and with the support of the next family generation, a new and exciting project has begun.
